The United States made a promise to the Afghan allies who fought alongside us. For over two decades, interpreters, soldiers, intelligence officers, and their families put their lives on the line to support the U.S. military - many of whom saved American lives. Now, under recent executive orders, we are breaking that promise—abandoning thousands of thoroughly vetted Afghan allies, stranding them in hostile territory, and compromising America’s national security and global credibility.
The Afghan Adjustment Act is not just about immigration—it’s about honor, national security, and strategic trust. Due to Executive Order 14163, all refugee processing has been paused indefinitely, halting the relocation of Afghan allies already approved for resettlement.
Meanwhile, Executive Order 14169 has cut off foreign aid funding that supports the Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) process, meaning that even those allies who have already received approval for U.S. entry, are now unable to travel. Thousands of allies who have been thoroughly vetted by the Department of Defense, FBI, and Homeland Security are now stuck in limbo, many trapped in third countries with no support system.
This crisis is not just a humanitarian failure—it is a national security disaster.
Abandoning our allies sends a clear message to the world: America does not stand by those who stand by us. If we betray the Afghans who risked their lives for our mission, why would any future partner—whether in the Indo-Pacific, Africa, or Eastern Europe—trust us again? These policies weaken U.S. credibility, embolden our adversaries, and damage military and intelligence relationships worldwide.
America does not leave its people behind. This principle is not negotiable. Congress must act now to pass the Afghan Adjustment Act, and the administration must immediately exempt Afghan allies from these executive orders.
This is not about politics—it is about upholding our word, protecting those who protected us, and securing America’s standing in the world.
